Hi, I’m Clara Whitmore—home cook, food lover, and the voice behind Yum at Home. I started this blog because I believe that cooking at home shouldn’t be complicated or intimidating. It should be fun, comforting, and—most importantly—doable for real life.
I’m not a classically trained chef. I didn’t go to culinary school. I’m just someone who grew up in a busy household, watching my mom pull together hearty meals with whatever we had in the pantry. Over time, I fell in love with the process: the smells, the sizzles, the way a good meal brings people together. That love turned into a passion, and that passion turned into Yum at Home.
If you’re looking for fancy restaurant-style recipes with twenty steps and hard-to-pronounce ingredients, this probably isn’t the blog for you. But if you’re a busy parent, a beginner in the kitchen, or someone who just wants to make dinner without stressing—welcome, you’re in the right place.
I focus on:
Simple, everyday meals that don’t take hours to make
Family-friendly dishes with ingredients you probably already have
Cozy comfort foods, easy desserts, slow cooker favorites, and more
Step-by-step instructions that make it easy to follow along
I test every recipe in my own kitchen—usually with music playing, a messy countertop, and my dog waiting for crumbs to hit the floor. I only share the ones that truly work and taste great.
Food has always been how I show love. Whether it’s making pancakes on a lazy Sunday or throwing together a one-pot dinner after work, cooking gives me a sense of calm and connection. I started Yum at Home to share that feeling with you.
I know what it’s like to feel too tired to cook. I also know how good it feels to sit down to a warm, homemade meal—even if it’s just spaghetti and garlic bread. That’s the heart of this blog: real food, for real life.
I live just outside of Nashville with my husband and our dog, Waffles.
I could eat breakfast for every meal (and sometimes do).
My go-to comfort meal is creamy tomato soup with a grilled cheese sandwich.
I believe there’s no such thing as too much garlic.
Thank you for stopping by. I’m so glad you’re here. I hope Yum at Home becomes your go-to spot for easy, delicious recipes that make home cooking something to look forward to.
